Abstract:
Background: Undergraduate students are supposed to be trained in academic writing. However, the bachelor thesis is their first major scientific work written in the last year of their bachelor's studies. They can enrol in an e-course and study faculty guidelines on how to write a bachelor's thesis, but it is not enough they lack training and practice. Currently, we are facing a problem of a declining number of students in the Management of Tourism and a problem of lower study competencies of incoming students. We present a technique for taking students through the first steps in science on the example of blockchains in tourism, which is a trendy but demanding issue. Methods: The case study is based on qualitative research. A brief survey, review, heuristic method, a follow-up discussion and presentation are employed. Results: Each student works out his/her research in progress and presents and justifies that. Students’ outputs are visualized. Conclusion: This approach helps to increase awareness and access to science in students of not only in bachelor study programmes but is useful in students of doctoral studies who face eternal difficulties in mastering research methods.
