Abstract:
Economic interdependence between different countries and the diversity that has been generated in each society, product of globalization, refer challenges that are required to solve. These social changes involve new ways to understand, to act and to interact amoung people that have worked together and with effectiveness; at that kind of relations, culture and communication will play a priority role. To rise an effective communication is required the knowledge and the understanding of other cultures between each other. For that purpose people will be able to offer empathy and open-mindedness attitude. The success of the projects from that kind of interactions, initiatives and programs, depends largely on the ability to think and act in a culturally competent way.

For this reason, it’s relevant to consider the development of multicultural competences in the educational institutions, as is specified in the <<Global Competence Aptitude Assessment >> document; which focuses in the necessity to find solutions, meet challenges and seize the opportunities that, in a global world, are arised.

Major universities worldwide, integrate multiculturalism as a source of creativity and innovation. Thinking in a cultural competent way is an actual vision from which we recognize the impact of the multiculturalism in all the activities that people carry out: it never minds if it’s in services areas, in the academic activity or in the research field.

Although the development of global competencies have an international guideline, it’s important to take care about the local context because of that origin allows human beings to connect what they have learned with the immediate environment. In addition, that kind of competences, offers the possibility to work directly with everything that requires to be run efficiently.

As an answer in UPAEP we has generated a participation project for the development of the necessary skills that teachers and administrative personal will increase for responding to the world global reality and, by this way, reach a good ranking position – in a medium and long term-, as pioneer in the cultural reflection. Our proposal considers the creation of internal college courses as a part of a program and whole strategy that support multicultural competences and it management.

Our environment is made up of:
a) Students:
• Foreign students: every day there are more foreign students that arrive at UPAEP through an exchange travel abroad. This situation poses a challenge, both administratively and academically.
• Exchanges of national students: on the other hand, every day there are more mexican students that study at UPAEP. As well as foreign students, administrative and academic attention that can guide them in the process is required. This effort requires people with global capabilities.
• Indigenous students: By their different culture, language, traditions, is required to achieve global competences to integrate them to the community and to communicate usefully
• International Profesors:
• Due to the “International Humanist Teachers Program”, every day there are more teachers that come from universities around the world foreign.
