Abstract:
Since the social and economic point of view does increasingly necessary the existence of an educational system of quality so that, in addition to other contributions, the companies can have qualified workers to survival and progress of the same in an increasingly competitive field and global.

Among other elements which make up this educational system, the Professional Training acquire big relevance, especially in the current moment, because it allows to pipe the vocation of a lot of students, giving competitions to develop a profession, but also includes formative programmes directed to workers, what facilitates his promotion, and other actions directed to unemployed person, what increases his possibilities of reinstatement in the labour market.

After the passing of the Organic Law 2/2006, 3th May, of Education (LOE) (BOE, 04/05/2006) begins to appear a new legislation in the different Spanish autonomous communities, to adapt the Professional Training to the disposals established in this law, as well as to the proposals in the Organic Law 5/2002, 19th June, of Qualifications and Professional Training (BOE, 20/06/2002). As well, nowadays, autonomous communities are the responsible for the regulatory development of the standard national basic and of the legislation of the distinctive elements or aspects of the educational system in its territorial field.

Within the scope of the Autonomous Community of Galicia the Decree 114/2010 (DOG, 12/07/2010) had a normative frame to regulate the Professional Training in this community. This allows the definition of the curricula of the formative cycles, adapting the new qualifications to the professional field and of work of the Galician socioeconomic reality and to the needs of qualification of the corresponding productive sector, facilitating the labour insertion of the students.

Taking into account this reality, in this work we study the basic characteristics of the initial Professional Training in the Autonomous Community of Galicia, having as concerning legislation that regulates it and do, likewise, an analysis of the evolution of the enrollment in the formative cycles of Professional Training of the general system-common offered in this community since last years, focusing on variables like degree of formative cycles, public or private centres and professional family.
