Abstract:
Introduction:
The appearance of mobile devices has radically modified the ecology of the media. However, much research remains to be done regarding the use of mobile devices in higher education. This research aims to analyze the use of mobile devices during the pre-production, production and post-production phases of an audiovisual project in the Audiovisual Communication career of a private university in Metropolitan Lima.
Methodology:
In this research an interpretive paradigm and a phenomenological design were used. The technique used for data collection was the semi-structured interview. Eight student interviews and seven teacher interviews were conducted. To analyze the information, a triangulation of researchers was applied. The data were coded using the software for qualitative analysis Atlas.ti.
Results:
It was found that the interviewed students use different mobile applications during the audiovisual production process. Additionally, they point out that they consider its use in the audiovisual creation process positive and that they learned to use these applications outside the University. For their part, the teachers interviewed were in favor of the use of mobile devices at the University as long as they do not replace conventional equipment.
Discussion and conclusions:
It is concluded that the use of mobile applications in the different phases of the audiovisual production process is limited to technical aspects. Therefore, these are not integrated into the teaching-learning process. However, both groups consider that the use of mobile devices in audiovisual production allows to enhance creativity and optimize the use of time and material resources. For future research it is recommended to analyze the use of mobile applications in different careers of Social Sciences and Humanities. Keywords:
