Abstract:
The New Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) such as Moodle platform virtual campus (CV) allow students a blended-learning system by promoting the development of skills of self-education, self-governance and responsibility skills in students . Moodle is a very versatile tool and among its options allows to incorporate a system of e-Self-assessment favoring a formative feedback and promoting active participation of students, which is certainly good for their training. The e-Self- assessment is considered as an e-Learning strategy (Carless, 2006; Nicol, 2007; Rodriguez et al, 2011).

During the year 2013-14, with the support of an innovation and improving teaching quality innovation project of educational (PIMCD) of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), we decided to use the e-Self-assessment in different units of the subject of Prevention and Public Health. We started on basic conceptual topics with the intention of gradually incorporate this system in all the matter.

Once selected thematic units, the type of activity or exercise that we considered most suitable among the possibilities offered by the Moodle platform and developed the test, the students were invited to participate. Although initially for teachers the update, selection and preparation of material for exercises or tests to propose could be considered as a work overload, and despite being a short experience, it has been a very positive and satisfactory practice. We have obtained a favorable response from students, who have been encouraged to seek answers and request on-line and face to face tutorials which indicate a greater interest and involvement in their education.

For all that reasons, we consider the e-assessment can be a valuable learning strategy which allows work additional formative aspects with students individually and in groups.
