Abstract:
This comprehensive comparative study on the perspectives and realities of the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in higher education in Ecuador. It examines the expectations and challenges faced by educational institutions, as well as the perception of students and teachers on the effective use of ICT in the teaching and learning process, with the main objective of evaluating how they are being adopted by teachers and their impact on the educational process.

The analysis is based on data collected through surveys, interviews and literature review, with emphasis on the availability of technological resources, faculty training, digital infrastructure and accessibility to connectivity in different regions of the country. A comparison is presented between expectations and reality regarding the use of ICTs in the Ecuadorian university context.

The implications of these findings for the design of educational policies, curriculum planning and teacher training in Ecuador are discussed, promoting a more effective integration of ICTs in higher education and improving the quality of education in the country.

The results reveal the perception of students and teachers on the effectiveness of ICT in teaching and learning, as well as the main obstacles identified for its successful implementation, highlighting both positive aspects and challenges, highlighting a significant impact on the effectiveness of teaching and students' attitude towards learning.

Therefore, the study underscores the importance of a balanced and adaptive approach by providing a comprehensive view of the perspectives and realities of ICT in higher education in Ecuador, identifying areas of opportunity and key challenges to improve the integration of technology in the educational process.
