Abstract:
The Pandemic resulted in the need for innovation in the delivery of examinations to ensure academic integrity. For disciplines in which the assessments involve calculations, finding innovative ways to ensure academic integrity proved to be challenging. One solution was to creating multiple versions of an exam, but without the aid of technology, creating many versions of each numerical question can be extremely time consuming and labour intensive. Excel has proven to be an extremely useful tool for generating multiple versions of an exam question and answer. The setup of a question within Excel may involve more time than formulating a single version of a question, but once the setup is complete, the beauty of using Excel comes from the ability to generate numerous versions of the same question within minutes. One could generate a different version of each question for each student. This presentation will illustrate how to generate exam questions and solutions using several question types and Excel functions.
