Abstract:
The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) requires the adaptation of the Spanish university curricula to the principles that were reflected in the Bologna Declaration towards a common system in the European university.
In this sense, tutorial action programs appear as a key element in the integral formation of students. Therefore, Spanish universities have made considerable efforts to adapt their systems to these new needs.
Despite the difficulties such as the lack of experience, failure of infrastructure, and budgetary requirements, among many others, there are numerous universities that have developed tutoring pilot programs. Those programs have allowed to acquire the experience for a definitive implementation of tutorial programs. However they are subject to the necessary changes that allow for the improvement.
One of the pioneers on those programs have been Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. This university launched for the first time a pilot program in the 2005-6 academic year. It continued the experience until 2009-10, when it established a Comprehensive Mentoring Program for Graduate degrees adapted to the EHEA.
Based on general experience of this university and our work in the tutorial area, we analyze in this study, the main results obtained in order to determine the success of the Programme and the difficulties to achieve it.Keywords:
