Abstract:
There is a need for quality educational materials that address the unique demands of students to be given sufficient preparation for their preferred college courses and career paths in line with their chosen program of study. In particular, we designed courseware for different STEM courses to develop critical thinking and other skills that are vital for the future careers of our learners. We infuse information and communications technology (ICT) in all courses in the STEM strand of Senior High School through Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology. The AR-VR features aim to enhance students' motivation to read the and develop other habits necessary for life-long learning. AR-VR can also enrich their overall learning experience by helping them visualize and concretize topics or concepts that are otherwise too abstract or complex. Each lesson also ends with a lesson summary presented as an infographic, designed to appeal to the cultural and aesthetic preferences of today's learners.
We developed augmented reality applications for the teaching of STEM Courses in Senior High School. We demonstrate how augmented reality is incorporated in the teaching of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Mathematics, through numerous examples.
We focus on how learners can gain the competencies necessary for situations and activities in their respective fields. In addition, we follow the standards set by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the four competencies defined by the Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
It is through these features and activities that can indeed make students' learning a great experience. The teaching of Science and Mathematics concepts is made more fun and engaging by using Augmented Reality. Keywords:
STEM, Augmented Reality.
