Abstract:
This study illustrates the blended model of consultation services devised for the instructors involved in the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) project implemented at the University of Urbino, Italy. The project is part of the University-driven internationalization project.
A blended model of consultation services has been designed to help instructors plan and implement effective CLIL courses in English. In particular, CLIL experts and English native-speaker specialists are available to provide instructors respectively with methodological and linguistic support. In one-on-one meetings and online, the experts help instructors plan scaffolding suitable to tackle every aspect of CLIL teaching including lecture delivery, lecture-generated materials (such as PowerPoint presentations and pre- and while-listening activities), technology-enhanced subject-specific activities and tasks, and assessment. The experts are also available for classroom observation.
The blended model of consultation services presented can be adopted in other higher education settings implementing ETPs (English-Taught Programs) as well as adapted to other institutional contexts and needs.
