Abstract:
The main objective of the research was to determine the formation of the research competences of postgraduate students in administration in the study design, instrumental and management for dissemination categories. The theoretical framework used was the contributions of Hodgson, Varsavsky & Matthews (2014), Potolea (2013), and Valdés, Vera, Nenninger & Haydee (2012). The importance of the research was that the postgraduate course has become the preponderant space where professionals have the opportunity to complement their training to expand their development opportunities in the areas of teaching and research, as well as deepen in a field of specific knowledge, so that this educational level has been constituted as responsible for promoting the generation of new knowledge through scientific, technological, humanistic and social research, so that it is essential for people who access this level to acquire a set of competences related to research that enable them to apply and generate scientific and technological knowledge in the productive, social and services sector. The study methodology was quantitative with a descriptive scope. The instrument designed to obtain the information was a questionnaire based on a Likert scale. The items were measured through a scale with five response options from 0 (not developed) to 4 (highly developed). The questionnaire was judged by experts to determine the validity of its content to subsequently obtain its reliability and internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha coefficient that was of 0.884, which is why it was interpreted as adequate. To organize the information collected, the SPSS program was used as a support tool in order to obtain the descriptive and inferential statistics that allowed the interpretation of the results obtained, which were made based on the following evaluation scale: From 0.00 to 1.00 it was considered an undeveloped level of competence; from 1.10 to 2.00 as an insufficient level of development; from 2.10 to 3.00 as a regular or moderate level of development and from 3.10 to 4.00 as a consolidated level of development. The research sample was of a non-probabilistic type with the criterion of convenience because the selected participants were those who completed their postgraduate degree in administration at the National Polytechnic Institute and were a total of 67 participants. The main results of the study were that students have training in design and instrumental skills with a moderate level and in management of dissemination with a poor level. Statistically significant differences were also found by gender (t = 4,325, p = 0.00); age (ANOVA, F = 8.114, p <0.05); work experience (ANOVA, F = 7,875, p <0.05) and educational program (ANOVA, F = 6,245, p <0.05). The main conclusion was to determine the level of development of the research competences in the postgraduate students in administration with the purpose of identifying the level of achievement in order to establish training strategies focused on the consolidation of these capacities.
