Abstract:

Grey literature has gained increasing relevance within academic contexts, encompassing diverse forms such as master’s dissertations, doctoral theses, postdoctoral reports, and publications in proceedings of meetings, congresses, and seminars. This study presents a meta-analysis of abstracts disseminated through various formats, specifically abstract books from academic events associated with the Wiki, Education and Research WEIWER® International Academic Network, hosted by the Distance Education and E-learning Laboratory of the Universidade Aberta, Open University Portugal.

Methodologically, a mixed-methods approach was employed, grounded in the MAECC® method, and complemented by a systematic review of a defined corpus corresponding to the case study under analysis, totaling 36 abstracts published between 2014-2018 and 2020-2025, written in Portuguese (26 occurrences) and English (10 occurrences). Notably, these abstracts include both presentations delivered by researchers (3 occurrences) and summaries of subsequently published articles (33 occurrences). The temporal distribution reveals a positive progression, with 15 occurrences in the first period and 21 in the second, i.e. from 2020 to 2025.

The mapping of the educational studies considered in this research contributes to understanding the dissemination patterns of academic contributions within grey literature and highlights the role of collaborative academic networks in fostering knowledge exchange.
