Abstract:
In order to fulfill requirements made by Quality Assurance and Accreditation at Spanish University, the number of questionnaires has increased in the past decade. This tool for knowing the opinion of university students about teachers has been used as the principal and sometimes the only source of information about the teaching method. It is important to make an assessment about the advantages and limitations followed by this procedure and define its scope and limits.
The aim of this article is to highlight the pros and cons of the way the students are questioned at University at the Basque Country give some recommendations in order to decrease some weak aspects and to strength others. The receivers (teacher, Government of the Faculty, Quality Management Committee) use the numerical results obtained by using questionnaires for decision-making and to compare quality levels amounts faculties without taking into account other important factors such as the level of difficulty of the subject and the low participation rate of students. These motifs are enough to try ameliorating the measuring procedure of the students’ satisfaction.
