Abstract:
Technical engineering degrees are focused on developing analytical, technical, mathematical and design skills among their students. Nowadays other competences are needed to be able to face a more open, multidisciplinary and competitive world. In this sense communicative abilities must be developed by students while they are carrying their degree studies.

The objective of the present study is showing how engineering students cannot only develop communicative skills using oral presentation techniques during their studies but also how they are involved in the evaluation of these works. For this purpose a rubric methodology has been used. This study will show this methodology and its practical application with a group of students of a Civil Engineering Degree. The use of this technique was really useful in terms of motivation of the students since they were more involved in the subject once they realize they would evaluate the work of the rest of their classmates.

Students perceive that rubric let them clarify evaluation criteria, planning the development of the works and evaluating their results.
