Abstract:
The main purpose of the Meetyourforest project is to provide specific resources to improve forest management. One of the major issues related to forests is the lack of knowledge on how to manage and preserve them. With the current climate change situation and increasing urbanization, forests are often neglected and suffer from a lack of interest among citizens. Forested areas today are threatened by invasive species, fires, and poor management practices. To address these hazards, it is crucial to create a population that understands and values the environmental, economic, and recreational importance of forests. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for accessible outdoor spaces for recreation and sports, underscoring the value of forests.

The project aims to enhance citizens' knowledge of good forest management practices. This knowledge has been compiled into a handbook, which includes best practices and measures identified through research conducted by consortium partners in their respective countries. These measures serve as a comprehensive tool to implement new techniques and strategies for forest management across the consortium's member countries.

The Multimedia Manual on Good Management and Innovative Uses of the Forest compiles a series of best practices related to forest management and innovative uses of forests within the consortium areas. These practices will be freely accessible online, serving as a reference for anyone interested in future forest management.
Additionally, the project offers a Course on Innovative Uses and Sustainable Forest Management, primarily targeting forest communities but also available for free to anyone seeking to improve their sustainable forest management skills. An application to test forestry knowledge has been developed, along with a georeferenced map highlighting areas of high environmental value in the countries of the project partners.
