Abstract:
Most of the times, the methods for evaluating the characteristics of a university lecturer are variations of the same quantitative method, either a psychometric questionnaire or survey. In them the student is forced to choose between qualities or place these qualities on a scale of preference. In this way, subjective components such as cognitive style, thinking style, personality, level of education, teacher-student empathy, expectations, etc. are left out. In a parallel work we show an effective qualitative method in which the student is free to express their opinions. In this paper, using a quantitative method to asses the same qualities, we compare the results obtained with a both methods, quantitative and a qualitative to assess what qualities of a university professor are the most important to the students. In addition, we asked them which of the two methods is of their best preference, qualitative or quantitative.
