Abstract:
Mathematics is considered as a science of logical reasoning whose manifestations are very visible in the daily lives of all individuals. In a school context, reducing the learning of mathematical concepts only to the resolution of exercises removes the challenge in a class and leads to students' motivation.

In addition, the teacher must know how each student's learning process takes place, how they argue, how they communicate, as well as they interact socially, moving certain affective and cultural aspects to achieve their mathematical knowledge. In this way, it is easier to understand an idea told through a story than an abstract idea completely out of context. For this reason, we believe that stories with mathematics should be given relevance in classroom to motivate students.

Stories prove to be an important resource in students' learning, motivating their interest in problem solving. Therefore, the teacher must develop and implement strategies that include creative, appealing and enriching activities with which the student will enjoy learning.

Through these activities the student will enjoy the mathematical contents more because it will have a more practical and playful perspective and not such a theoretical and complex idea, as is sometimes felt by many.

We present in this work some of the activities, based on stories with mathematics, developed during the Supervised Teaching Practice in a primary school in the northeast of Portugal. By direct observation of the students we found that they showed enthusiasm and willingness to learn more, insistently asking for more stories and indicating characters they wanted to see portrayed.
