Abstract:
Web accessibility indicates the ability to access the Web and its contents by every person.

The National and European legislation address the need to ensure access and participation of people with disabilities in the Information Society. In Spain, the Real Decreto law 1494/2007 of November 12th regulates the minimum accessibility requirements to be met by websites of Public Institutions. Furthermore, the law 56/2007 of December 28th indicates that web accessibility criteria should be applied.

An accessible website must follow certain rules. The World Consortium of the Web, through one of its working groups -WAI- Web Accessibility Initiative, is responsible for drawing up specific guidelines or recommendations. The CTIC Foundation -Technological Center of Information and Communication- has developed the auto-tool 'TAW', also called "Web Accessibility Test'. TAW is a tool that allows the analysis, inform and propose solutions to the problems of accessibility of a website. It is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG 1.0) within the W3C.

In this context, Spanish Universitary Schools of Nursing should apply the current legislation on Web accessibility.

The aim of our study is to know the Web accessibility of a sample of Spanish Universitary Nursing School websites using the TAW tool.
