Abstract:
As in the European Union and many other countries, it is not enough that women have conquered, by law, the access to education and specially to university education, since a hierarchical or vertical discrimination persists, which continues to relegate females to positions of lower grade and to be in evaluation, managerial and institutional posts in a number far below those of females prepared for it.
Despite the policies of equality adopted in recent years, the academic environment has hardly changed: the difference between women and men is still important in the decision-making positions in the fields of higher education and research.
From this perspective, the objective of our work is configured around a comparative study of the situation of women researchers, particularly in the research groups of the three universities of the University System of Galicia, according to the following dimensions:
- Number of principal researchers as coordinators (PR coordinator) in the research groups according to gender, university and area of knowledge.
- Number principal researchers (PR) in research groups according to gender, university and area of knowledge.
- Number of members in the research groups according to gender, university and area of knowledge.
Through this analysis, our purpose is to examine possible of status in the research groups from the three universities in Galicia by gender and area of knowledge.
