Abstract:
United Nations Action Program on Peace Culture points to gender equality as one of its eight thematic axis to promote peace [1]. Even when numerous actions have been attempted to erradicate violence against women in Mexico and build a culture of peace, there is a lot that still needs to be done to achieve the aspired level of gender equality; there is still many pending matters in terms of direct, structural and cultural violence towards women.

Facing this situation, Monterrey’s Technological Institute seeks to influence its students competences for peace through transversalizing gender perspectives in different courses imparted in secondary and professional levels. To measure the reach and the objectives of this strategy we decided to use different instruments related to three main axis: attitudes towards gender and violence [2], perception of abuse [3], and conflict management and resolution [4].

We think discussing these instruments is pertinent at the intersection of peace and gender studies, as well as introducing, as a starting point, the results of a preliminary survey carried out with two sample groups representative of Tecnologico de Monterrey students.
