Abstract:
This contribution discusses the utilization of the tool GenOpt, generic software of optimization and parametric analysis, as a support tool for practices on computer with TRNSYS. This program allows the students to analyze the effect of the variation of any input parameter on the output variables. Consequently, it may be used with the purpose of a specific goal or to run performance parametrics. Therefore on the grounds of this tool, the student may optimize a simulation and minimize the target parameter without investing too much time.
Additionally, the program lets the student to perform sensitivity analyses in a fast and effective way serving to facilitate the understanding of the system in study, as well as the simulation program.
Since it is an open-source program written in the multiplatform language Java, it also permits its adaptation to different simulation programs. This resource incorporates easy-handling algorithms of multidimensional optimization and it permits the implementation of new algorithms if it is necessary.
