Abstract:
The aim of the review study is to present the results of theoretical research of domestic research dealing with the teaching profession by classifying the analysis and creating overview of the results of Slovak and Czech research. We are mapping surveys that deal primarily workload and job satisfaction, factors and consequences of teachers' workload in general. The results of the study are the basis of the research project VEGA 1/0415/22 Subjectively perceived difficulty of teachers' professional activities versus their life satisfaction, which will focus on monitoring the relationships between workload and job/life satisfaction of teachers of pre-primary and primary education. The structure of teachers' job responsibilities is specific. It is related to the demands that society places on this profession. The structure of teachers' activities consists not only of direct educational activities with children, but also preparation for the educational process and various project activities of the school - their planning, implementation and evaluation, evaluation activities, pedagogical diagnostics and counselling for parents, cooperation with professional and lay public. An integral part of the teaching profession is lifelong learning, which can take the form of organized educational activities and self-education. One of the basic starting points of the review study is the research findings of Kasáčová et al. (2011), which document the diversity of a teacher's work activities in their time consuming as well as breadth, depth and intensity. Through this extensive pedagogical research, a detailed picture of the overall workload in this profession was created, even in comparison with the situation in the Czech Republic and Poland. Overall life satisfaction is also closely related to the level of workload (Kandrík, 2004), but this topic has not been sufficiently researched in Slovakia with a focus on pre-primary and primary teachers. In the review study, therefore, we map the topics that have been explored in the national context and are linked to the teacher's work activities, as they can provide a theoretical and empirical background for the research problem VEGA 1/0415/22. The results of the study represent the basis for a detailed examination of the subjectively perceived demands of teachers' professional activities in the context of their life satisfaction. Keywords:
