Abstract:
In this paper we present an educational project carried out with pupils studying different courses of CSE (Compulsory Secondary Education). It was developed along the 2013-2014 school year and its main objective was the reinforcement of the English as a foreign language (EFL) learning process through the collaboration with some pupils in a high school in the USA.
A wiki was created for the project and it was used as a digital magazine on which the oral and written productions of the students in both schools were uploaded. Thus, the Spanish students had to use the English language to carry out their different tasks while the American pupils did theirs in Spanish.
The American and Spanish teachers decided the activities the students should do before telling them how and when to present them. Once the tasks were finished, they were uploaded on the different sections of the wiki. The students’ outcomes were varied, ranging from videos presenting their schools and towns to presentations of different festivities or their written and oral stories etc. There was also a section devoted to recipes and even a role play with typical dialogues in a restaurant.
