Abstract:
A survey was performed at the University of Debrecen on the digital literacy and affinity to Web 2.0 among those students who entered to the university. Students filled the questionnaires before starting their studies at the university. We wanted to see what kind of skills and attitudes our students have concerning information-communication and online technology (ICT) before their studies in higher education. We could work with 4670 suitably filled questionnaires.

As a result of the survey on this special part of digital literacy, the gaps in ICT skills become visible. These students belong to Generation Y and they will have to teach Generation Z and other next generations, and we have to prepare them for this future task. In this presentation we deal with those special elements of digital literacy that students in teacher training have to know, and with those modern topics that can be inserted into the IT course in teacher training for enhancing their digital literacy and their skills on ICT.
