Abstract:
The article is devoted to the current vector of its further development. The authors emphasize the importance of linguistic and cultural studies in the modern educational system; analyze trends in the definition of its objectives and content. The article also focuses on new forms of work in linguistic and cultural studies and its educational and methodological problems. This discipline is aimed to be studied not only with foreign language but in parallel with its culture, traditions and history. The authors emphasize that the main purpose of linguistic and cultural studies is precisely to provide understanding, i.e. transfer of background knowledge about a foreign culture and their integration directly into the process of intercultural communication, which nowadays has manifold applications. The authors also highlight the possibility of using technical tools in the classes of linguistic and cultural studies. Projectors, Internet access, podcasts allow students to get as close as possible to studying the cultural characteristics of different countries/cultures of the world, thus motivating them to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills. Classes are becoming interactive, which, in turn, improves the methods of teaching languages. This is the key to successful training of competent professionals in this field.
