Abstract:
Currently, there is a tendency in Russia and the whole world to create an accessible educational environment for people with SEN (special educational needs): an inclusive education system is being actively formed, its strategies are being developed, and new technologies for its implementation are being introduced.
The problem of teaching children with SEN is of special attention for the scolars and teachers: how to teach not only compulsory subjects, but also foreign languages - since it is generally recognized that knowledge of several languages contributes to the development of brain activity, which is especially necessary for children with disabilities. Consequently, the strategies, principles and methods of teaching are rapidly changing and transforming, it becomes necessary to form an integrated education system suitable for a given target audience.
The main goal of the research was to study the modern methods of teaching foreign languages to children with SEN, as well as to determine the most appropriate ways to develop speaking skills for children with disabilities. According to the results of a study conducted in educational institutions of Moscow and the Moscow region, it was revealed that 13% of the total number of students in the classroom need a special approach when teaching a foreign language. From statistical processing it became obvious that not all teachers adapt pedagogical and teaching technologies in foreign languages for children with SEN. This fact makes it difficult to obtain the desired results aimed at learning a foreign language at the formation and development of communicative competence.
The study revealed the difficulties in teaching foreign language to children with SEN, on the basis of which the most effective exercises were proposed for developing speaking skills. Through the proposed set of exercises, a positive motivation to learn a foreign language with a given target audience can also be formed. Keywords:
