Abstract:
Nowadays informatics literacy becomes highly assessed and necessary skill. Thanks to this informatics education at elementary schools is so important for the future finding employment of the pupils. Informatics is the branch which is developing and changing very quickly. In this branch new possibilites appear. They relate to not only what to teach, but the way how to realise the education. One of the big range of possibilities how to support informatics thinking is the use of programming language Scratch in informatics learning.

In this contribution we will occupy with the visual programming language Scratch which is specified for children from eight years old. Using this language children can easily work with multimedia and create wide variety of projects as follow – games, animated stories, educational software or videa. In that language Scratch instead of text commands, bratckets and semicolons of the classical programming languages has coloured pieces at its disposal. After the correct connecting it creates a functional programme. The pupil can concentrate much more on understaning the programming principles and solving the problem. The subject matter of this article is a presentation of programming environment of Scratch and possibilities of the development of informatics thinking of the pupils during the learning.
