Abstract:

University education at technical universities takes place in typical forms. Technical forms of educational activities try to respond to current trends involving traditional and non-traditional methods. The newly accredited degree programs emphasize the need to use progressive methods and forms of education. Support for the development of modern methods and creativity is in the area of safety. Safety subjects aim to include the interconnection of theoretical and practical instruction. One of the subjects of the newly accredited Master's program is the subject of Risk Assessment. The inclusion of the subject in the study program Safety Planning (VSB-Technical Unversity of Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering) arose based on the need of the territory to analyze and evaluate risks responding to the change of key risks (eg blackout, drought etc.) related to the continuous change of safety environment in the territory. For teaching the subject are created teaching materials for teaching unit exercises. The teaching materials lead to systematic and coordinated analysis and assessment of risks by students based on the information obtained from available information sources with direct observation in a pre-selected area. The article describes the philosophy of setting up the subject, creating the content of teaching material as a possible tool for confronting theory with practice, thus ensuring higher employability of graduates in the labor market in safety areas.
