Abstract:
Evaluation of textbooks is one of the activities performed by every teacher. It is a process in which a number of parameters are assessed, especially the content, comprehensibility of the text, its structure and the graphic form. There are a number of methods for evaluating textbooks, from purely empirical to statistical. However, the teacher trainee should also gradually learn this skill. The paper presents a survey that aims at identification and evaluation of these skills. In the experiment, the different textbooks of primary school dealing with the same issues were presented to the teacher trainees. Specifically, three scanned pages, arranged side by side, were always displayed to the respondents. The task of students - respondents of the research was to study the pages and answer the question of the suitability of the content and typographic processing of the text, to sort the textbooks according to their own opinion and to justify the order verbally. The students were scanned by Eye-tracking equipment during the activity. The data obtained from the monitoring of their eye movements were put to qualitative and quantitative research and compared with their views on individual textbooks and their method of processing educational content.
