Abstract:
One of the biggest challenge of a teacher is to keep the attention of the students at maximum level. At university, lectures has 60-90 minutes, sometimes even 120 minutes. However, it has been stablished that the ability of concentration of the students is about 15 minutes, once this time pass the students attention tends to wane. This means that only the 33%-22% of the lesson is effective, the remainder is a waste of time for both agents, students and teachers. Nevertheless, investigations has concluded that small brake during long lectures recovers students´ attention. It is not necessary to stop the lesson, diverting their attention for a few minutes is enough to catch it again. The use of mobile phones can be a suitable way to carry out multiple-choice questions test during the class, this enable the teacher to analyse attention level of the student while the students play.
This paper present an assessment of the use of mobile for a quiz during lectures. With the aim of improving the effectiveness of lecture and increase the motivation of students, at the end of class students had to answer multiple-choice test with questions related to the lecture. At the end of the course students filled a survey to evaluate the methodology. The most of them agree that the technique increase motivation level during lecture. Keywords:
