Abstract:
This poster will present findings from the first stage evaluation of the CIPDE project.

CIPDE is an innovative project, funded by the European Union Lifelong Learning Programme. It is based at the University Of Glasgow, Faculty Of Education, but involves an international partnership with member institutions in Finland, Italy, Netherlands and Poland. The project is innovative in using online technology to facilitate and develop teachers’ professional development from and with an intercultural perspective.

The poster will offer an overview of the key findings of the first stage evaluation of the project undertaken in October 2008. In presenting these headline findings, examples of the cultural artefacts (including art, photography, and literature) will be included to illustrate the nature of online interactions through the projects and participants’ responses to these.

Drawing on the evaluation of the project, links will be made to key concepts and theories related to professional development and professional learning for teachers, showing how the critical interrogation and critical reflection facilitated through an online environment in an intercultural context offers an enhanced model for continuing professional development for classroom practitioners.
