Abstract:
Within the Faculty of Engineering of the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu there is a study program Mechatronics, at Bachelor level. The study program is organized in the regular-study form, with teaching lines in Romanian and English, as well as in dual-study form, which includes nine weeks of additional practical activities, carried out by students at partner industrial companies. Starting with March 2020, with very small interruptions, due to COVID-19, the teaching activities (both courses and laboratories) took place exclusively online. This was a major challenge, which the teaching staff tried to tackle successfully, keeping the quality of the educational process as high as possible. Among the measures taken for this purpose, presented in the paper, can be mentioned: the use of an online teaching platform for teaching and examination, live video transmission from laboratories, on the Internet, of practical activities and the proposal of tasks and interactive projects for students to fulfil, online examination activities, based upon questionnaires or homework with clear deadlines. Of particular importance was the collaboration with industrial companies, for the dual-study version of the Mechatronics study programme, because they also had to organize practical activities for students online. The paper presents how all these problems related to the online development of both teaching and practical activities in university and industrial companies, as well as exams were addressed at the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, for the Mechatronics study programme.
