Abstract:
New approach to the e-learning materials distribution takes the advantage of the learning contents management systems (LCMS). These changes raise the value of digital competences in education. Teachers have the opportunity to stimulate the development of key competences and subject specific competences. At the same time the usage of the LCMS dramatically change the user's attitude toward internet and virtual world. Consequently the digital competence needs to expand the topic of digital security. Social networks and instant messaging programs enable users to have communication beyond physical limitations of known individuals and digital security is less present in the mind of digital natives. Observing our students on different levels of education we discover that they are almost indifferent to the problem of digital security and they post personal data without hesitation.
To promote safe usage of web services teachers have to provide reliable and competent information to their learners. Analysis of the curriculum for primary and secondary school in Slovenia shows that topics of digital security are not sufficiently included into the computer courses. Since the problem becomes widespread the recommendations for teachers are available in form of textbooks, web pages and educational CD-s but majority of teachers are still not informed about their existence. To verify that potential digital threat is recognized by our students (future teachers) survey was conducted. The results of the research are going to be presented in this article.
