Abstract:
This paper aims at giving a brief overview of research that has been carried out in the past three years with the main part focusing on its evaluation. The subject of the research was to develop a type of a learning management system that would suit language learning (primarily of the English language) and take into consideration students’ characteristics and knowledge. Students’ characteristics means students’ perception of information (based on a questionnaire of perception preferences) and knowledge of the English language is assessed using a fuzzy logic expert system, enabling to work with linguistic expressions. The final phase of the research was real verification of the proposed system. The main part of this paper provides a detailed analysis of students’ evaluation of the piloted course, which took place in the winter semester 2014 at the Department of Informatics and Computers, Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava. The analysis of students’ course evaluation was based on a questionnaire, which was created exactly for the purposes of its evaluation. The results that have been concluded from the analysis give promising prospects for further research.
