Abstract:
Building on prior successes and challenges from teaching innovation projects in the Security in Computer Systems (SCS) and Risk Analysis and Management (RAM) courses during the academic years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 at the University of Cadiz, Spain, this paper introduces a gamification-driven project for the academic year 2022-2023, extending it to the Security in Distributed Systems (SDS) course. The project leverages Information and Communication Technologies, particularly the Moodle platform and tools like H5P, to design gamified activities for assessment and self-assessment on the three courses. Methodologically, a set of games ranging from crosswords to Sudoku were integrated to engage students and augment their learning experience. Feedback from students, collected via anonymous questionnaires, revealed that gamified activities enhanced a deeper understanding of the concepts and terms involved in the courses. A notable finding was the demand for gamified activities across other courses, highlighting the project’s potential for broader application. Keywords:
