Abstract:
In this search paper we represent our study which aims to develop a protocol for development of mentally handicapped children oral language skills using audio-visual software. We started from a positive general hypothesis on the following principle question: Has the proposed protocol a significant effectiveness to develop mentally handicapped children oral language skills?

Our proposed protocol consists of short stories, animated and non-animated images, we asked children to observe, comment and simulate them. The study sample consisted of forty mentally handicapped cases on chronological age between (9-12) years and intelligence quotient score between 50 and75. We tried the proposed protocol on our sample where the experimental design was the pretest-posttest design, and in order to implement our research project we used the following tools: Vocabulary, Language skills test and Protocol for oral language skills development.
Our study results indicate that there are significant differences in language skills for the benefit of children who have been subjected to experimental treatment. So we can say that the protocol which we proposed is effective to develop oral language skills of mentally handicapped children.
