Abstract:
This study is set out to assess the impact of Vocational and Technical Education VTE teachers on poverty reduction. A survey type of research design was employed. Sample for the study comprised of one hundred and fifty (150) VTE teachers and one hundred and fifty (150) teachers from other discipline. Two research questions were raised and one null hypothesis was formulated. The result of the findings showed that, there was a significant impact of VTE on poverty reduction. Findings also showed that, there was a significant different between the level of impact made by the VTE teachers on poverty reduction than teachers from other disciplines. Findings also showed that VTE teachers played a prominent and very important role on poverty reduction in the study area. This was as a result of the skills acquired that made the teachers to be self-reliance, self-employed and contributed much to industrial and economic development of the nation. It was therefore recommended that government should pay more attention to job creation through functional VTE programmes and VTE teachers should be motivated and assisted financially in terms of aids or loans and be encouraged to practice the sills acquired practically outside their classroom situation.
