Abstract:
Sustainable development covers a wide range of topics – from economic and social to environmental issues. Their goal is to successfully face challenges in today’s world and to leave a healthier planet and a better world for future generations. This paper aims to show how sustainability can be used in education and to analyse attitudes of teachers and students involved in an interdisciplinary international project towards sustainability in education. The project was based on the Sustainable Development Goals and the students developed their creativity, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, as well as entrepreneurial competencies by taking effective steps towards sustainable education. The research was conducted through surveys. The sample consisted of teachers and students from various European countries involved in this international project. 14 teachers and 118 students filled in a pre-project survey and an end-of-project survey. The results of the quantitative research were analysed by descriptive statistics using the SPSS programme. Sustainability is a globally important topic and it could be included in curricula of numerous subjects on all educational levels. Keywords:
