Abstract:
In today's rapidly evolving educational landscape, universities like Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) face the challenge of fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment that keeps pace with the ever-growing demands of students and faculty. This presentation explores the digital transformation journey undertaken by UFV in Spain. It delves into the challenges faced with their legacy Learning Management System (LMS) and how the university embraced innovation by adopting a cloud-based LMS like Canvas.

UFV, a prestigious university in Madrid, Spain, with over 9,000 students, previously relied on an on-premise LMS that hindered their ability to:
- Adapt to Evolving Needs: The outdated system lacked the scalability to accommodate UFV's growth and integrate seamlessly with emerging educational technologies.
- Promote Active Learning: Static content delivery methods restricted opportunities for interactive learning and student engagement.

UFV's adoption of Canvas, a leading cloud-based LMS, addressed these limitations and unlocked a new era of digital learning:
- Unmatched Scalability and Flexibility: The cloud-based infrastructure allows UFV to adapt to their growing student body and seamlessly integrate with other digital tools, fostering a future-proof learning environment.
- Enhanced Engagement and Collaboration: Canvas offers a robust suite of interactive features like discussions, collaborative assignments, and real-time feedback mechanisms, transforming classrooms into dynamic hubs for active learning.
- Ubiquitous Accessibility: The cloud eliminates geographical constraints, allowing students and faculty to access course materials and participate in learning activities anytime, anywhere, on any device.

This presentation delves deeper into UFV's experience with Canvas, exploring measurable improvements in student engagement and learning outcomes, faculty empowerment through a user-friendly interface and extensive training resources and streamlined course management and efficient communication channels.
