ENHANCING A TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILLS THROUGH VARIOUS SCAFFOLDING METHODS: A PRACTICAL STUDY ON RUSSIAN NATIVE SPEAKERS

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to examine the significance of teaching the English language to students of a technical university, particularly surpassing their speaking skill through various scaffolding methods and to pinpoint the learner’s perspective on the subject. To accomplish these goals, the outlined tasks were set: to explain the importance of learning English as a second foreign language, to present main key points of scaffolding techniques, to specify the vital part of implementation of scaffolding methods, and to conduct a detailed practical analysis. The following methods were required to complete the tasks: scientific and methodological literature was examined a wide range of information sources were scrutinized. Particular attention is paid to the use of scaffolding methods in communicative activities within classes in a technical university. To accomplish the research objectives, a quantitative method was implemented. Data were assembled through a questionnaire survey and by observation. The research survey was completed remotely in September and October in 2022.
Scaffolding techniques are a crucial part of the English language and have been widely utilized to remove the barrier of fear in speaking English fluently. Learners can comprehend their speaking fluency through scaffolding strategies.
The obtained survey results allow us to draw a conclusion about the learners’ attitude towards scaffolding methods in speaking tasks while learning English as a second or foreign language. Keywords:
