Abstract:
Archives and libraries have a lot of documental and historical collections relevant for studies; however usually items within are difficult to locate, to access and to consult.
Web will be an efficient tool in order to disseminate the content of documents unique, rare or undisclosed for preservation purpose.

The research study “Dictionary of the Italian Resurgency” by Michele Rosi has allowed to public, historians and history students to access again four Volumes fundamental to research and studies on Italian Modern History.
Project has been developed in collaboration with the Civiche Raccolte Storiche di Milano (Milano Historical Downtown Collections) following a proposal of the Director Roberto Guerri in the framework of the Network local and virtual of the seven Historical Museum of Milano Downtown.

The beginning of the project was a complete transformation in digital form of the books; in the successive step a web system was implemented to publish on the net, to search and to examine the text, using booth a textual format (indexed by Google and in consequence WW searchable) and the original printing (scanned and downloadable in jpg format).
A search system using key criteria allows to crosscorrelate search results and dates, overcoming the labour intensive traditional text examination.
A distributed system for data insertion (at the moment letter A, E and F have been completed) and for data-updating allows many students collaborate from different sites, revising and upgrading the contents of the site and managing the hypertextual and interactive operations.

The second step of the project will start in short time; it’s focussed on the creation of links between the contents of the first tree volumes of the work: Peoples and the content of the fourth: Events where peoples quoted in the dictionary were involved as main actors.
