Abstract:
This study investigated the Computer literacy level and internet orientation of pre- service teachers in Ondo state. Descriptive survey research design was used .A total of 500 pre -service teachers selected through simple random sampling technique from the five (5) Schools of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo participated in the study. Three research questions were raised and answered. A validated instrument titled Computer Literacy Level and Internet Orientation Questionnaire was used for data collection. The simple percentage, Pearson moment correlation and t-test of significance were the major statistical tools used for data analysis. Emanating from the findings of this study is the low level of computer literacy among pre- service teachers. The outcome of the study further showed that, there is no significant gender difference in the computer literacy level of pre- service teachers, while a relationship exists in their computer literacy level and internet orientation. It is recommended among others, that government should utilize part of the WORLD BANK STEP B FUND to equip colleges of education with ICT facilities and equipment: training and retraining programmes should be organized for Lecturers in Colleges of Education with a view to enhancing their capacity in the use of ICT for instructional and research purposes. This will assist in repositioning the College programmes in Nigeria in line with the challenges of ICT.
