The article is devoted to adolescents’ personality formation by means of Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (Moodle), which is the e-learning platform in many educational institutions around the world. The purpose of this study was to identify moral qualities and aesthetic features, which can be formed by e-learning language courses in middle school students (12-13 years old).

This research took place in two Moscow public schools. By the decision of the methodical councils of the schools, the teachers conducted the experimental training within the framework of the school curriculums and it took 102 lessons per academic year. The total number of students participating in the experiment: 74 people. During the year, the classroom training of experimental group was accompanied by activities in e-course in MOODLE. The course was adapted to the students’ psycho-emotional characteristics, age and individual preferences. The learning process featured three phases: exposure, processing, and feedback to which the content was morally and aesthetically oriented.

Analysis of the survey data and personal conversations revealed no significant growth in either moral qualities and aesthetic features’ development nor other parameters within the control group. Clear changes were observed in increasing of moral qualities, aesthetic skills, and social and cultural competence of the experimental group.

The study showed that students who completed e-learning language courses with moral and aesthetic orientation were well acquainted with traditions of their own and foreign language countries, ready for cross-cultural communication. In addition, they possessed a positive attitude to school rules and considered themselves responsible for their academic progress, and offered assistance to those they could help.
