Abstract:
The reality of scientific research tends to focus scientists intensions on teamwork. The future of science lies in the teams that will be able to take up new challenges and identify new directions. A very important role in the creation and development of research teams play PhD students. Early contact with the research promotes comprehensive development and allows them quickly identify scientific fields of interests. An essential step in this direction is the contact with other scientists at different stages of their career. The best opportunities to make new friends, exchange experiences are scientific conferences. In this paper the role, played by scientific conferences, and in particular international conferences, in the development of scientific doctoral students, their involvement in various stages of preparation of the conference, as well as himself in it and their evaluation skills in the field of popularizing their achievements have been presented.

The authors analyzed the conference presentations prepared by PhD and graduate students in the context of their way to obtaining the degree of doctor of technical sciences. The adopted method refers to works published before a doctoral degree at scientific conferences. Due to the diversity of procedures for obtaining doctoral degrees, for the analysis the common procedure used by Polish doctoral students has been chosen. In order to determine the research group authors assumed that the prerequisite is to publish at least one scientific work published at an international conference in the period of 2013-2016 related to the Geoscience (eg geodesy, cartography, GIS, remote sensing).
In the following sections of this paper the authors try to identify the paths that guide the young researchers to gain experience and achievements in publishing scientific papers. Therefore, the publication includes references to international conferences with the participation of Polish PhD students. The specific summary is presented on the example of BCG Geomatics in 2016.

Innovative methods, modern technologies are usually presented the most frequently at conferences. This is the place where researchers from around the world come together to discuss their ideas and confront them with the solutions developed by other scientists. Finally, at the conferences there are born ideas, which sometimes turn into dissertations and envelop the research for further years of scientific career. The process of searching for interesting subjects, constituting the core of brilliant ideas, it's a very time-consuming and stressful moment in the life of every young PhD student. Very important role is played by the promoter, tutor or mentor, their valuable advice, their academic workshop, experience and skills to guide the young man is an important support on this difficult road to a PhD degree. One of the essential skills for a young adept of science is his ability to accurately express their own thoughts, formulate problems and research hypotheses and draw concise conclusions from the achieved results. The best place to trainee these skills are scientific conferences, where you have to deal with the regime of the time, an interesting presentation of the subject and, above all, to deal with questions from listeners. Stress accompanying, immunizes the speaker on the other hardships that he or she will meet on the road to the coveted PhD degree.
