Abstract:
This proposal introduces an innovative, technology-enhanced online leadership program designed to develop self-awareness, collaboration, and applied problem-solving through digitally driven learning experiences. Grounded in INTED 2026’s emphasis on advancing education through emerging technologies and pedagogical redesign, the curriculum integrates adaptive digital tools, virtual collaboration platforms and authentic assessments that prepare learners for leadership in globally connected, technology rich environments.
The introductory course leverages the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) framework to enhance self-awareness, enabling students to apply personality insights for optimal team composition in real-world scenarios as well as completing a three-week self-productivity experiment. Asynchronous discussion and synchronous breakout rooms promote peer learning and reflective dialogue.
A synchronous course on leading co-located and virtual teams immerses students in a simulated remote-work environment using tools such as Basecamp and Zoom. Over two weeks, each student leads a virtual team through writing parts of a business plan. Team members evaluate leadership effectiveness through digital feedback instruments, while the leader submits reflections, reinforcing accountability and agility.
The capstone experience brings together all program competencies through team-based resolution of organizational challenges. Using Microsoft Teams as a collaborative workspace, students co-create internal proposals, receive iterative feedback from the instructor, and deliver virtual presentations to the Technical Leadership Advisory Council (TLAC). This real-time expert review models workplace expectations and strengthens students’ capacity to communicate, innovate, and lead teams.
The program demonstrates how online leadership education can combine flexibility, interactivity, and technological rigor to support transfer student populations. By aligning leadership theory with digital platforms and collaborative online learning models, it builds essential competencies required for success in the modern workplace. This session showcases a scalable, technology-integrated learning design that blends asynchronous and synchronous coursework to enhance engagement, equity, and authentic skill development.
The presenter will provide actionable resources, including course templates, leadership assessment rubrics, digital facilitation strategies, and implementation guidelines, empowering educators to adapt this approach for online programs. Participants will gain insights into fostering engagement, connection, and transferable skills in technology-mediated education. Keywords:
