Abstract:
New methods in education become more popular nowadays. Distance learning is a god example when teacher and student meet at virtual environment. Because interaction in this virtual world might be complicated it seems necessary to assure as much methods of conforming that student is still engaged in the process of learning as it is possible. We would like to present assumption that by means of web-cam we will be able to track facial mimicry expressed by students during the distant sessions. Emotions play very important role in human’s life. The learning process might be more efficient when the emotional attempt will be engaged. Our working hypothesis states that by means of tracking facial expressions we will be able to control students’ attention. In everyday life people rather tend to use all the available information coming from facial expressions and other signals expressed by the face and body gestures to assess the emotional states of other people. In the process of distant learning we may access only to picture of students face and it is the only source of information about student’s emotions and attention.
The article presents the proposal of using current researches of authors in the field of computer vision and remote sensing tools to the problem of analysis human emotional states.
Authors present a simple way of gathering information about facial expressions on personal computers, such as laptops, required in the process of distant learning. Most of presented in this paper tools for image processing analysis are based on the experience of the previous research in the field of remote sensing. Keywords:
