Abstract:
In order to ensure that students from the most disadvantaged classes are able to complete their university studies, it is necessary to establish strategic actions to facilitate equal educational opportunities. The successful completion of their university education will improve their socio-economic situation and enable them to access positions of responsibility.

The fact that public institutions can offer support requires a comprehensive evaluation that allows the optimisation of physical, economic and human resources. To do so, it is necessary to characterize students according to economic, social, health, academic and cognitive dimensions.

The main objective of this work is to use indicators of adequacy and excellence based on multicriteria analysis techniques, to characterize students who join the university. Needs are identified and comparisons are made according to gender and socioeconomic status. With the results obtained, the institution will be able to design strategic policies to reduce school failure. This is a tool to support decision-making in educational institutions.
