Abstract:
The traditional methods for teaching Business and Economics at higher educational institutions are not sufficient to deal with the complexity in organizations and the changing market conditions. Business simulations represent an alternative to the methods commonly used in Higher Education, which combine classroom lectures and discussion. They are recognized pedagogic tools because they let students develop a wide range of competences to manage effectively at their future work places.
Business simulations allow students to assimilate the theoretical concepts and apply them in a real decision making context, evaluating the consequences of specific decisions on the overall business environment. The decisions to be made refer to different areas: production, finance, marketing, sales forecasting, etc.
In this paper we present the valuable opportunities offered by business simulations. In short, they stimulate a higher level of student interest and involvement, encouraging the learning process. Keywords:
