Rey Juan Carlos University (SPAIN)
The objective of this work is double, on one hand it consists on analyzing from an economic perspective the African international institutional framework and, on the other hand, study the Internet penetration in the African economy.

It has been carried out an econometric study comparing, at a longitudinal level, the different areas of economic cooperation, to analyze the development and the degree of penetration of Internet in the African economy.

The methodology of the study is a fixed effects panel data model for the last quarter of the 20th century, which captures the evolution of Internet use in the different African regions and explains the unequal evolution of the telecommunications, analyzing feasible cluster effects and the convergence of the different economic areas up to the present day.
