Abstract:
Our paper is focused on analysing the aspects of psycho-social work strain and its influence on decision-making processes, performance and health of the employees within the context of prevention and promotion of these important issues in education, instructions and trainings. The aim of our contribution is to analyse the findings of our research concerning the psycho-social work strain together with those similar in the world and to formulate some recommendations for the potential forms of advancement of safety, well-being, work satisfaction and development of related skills in educational and training processes at schools and/or organizations. Psychological strain, including e.g. work-related stress, high workload and demands, low employee control, weak social support and monotony, as a major cause of occupational health problems can lead to poor efficiency or productivity, human errors, increased sickness absence, accidents, poor performance and high staff turnover in organizations. In fact, bad psychosocial factors at work lead both to poor health of employees and also to worse economic conditions of a company and society. We consider this topic pressing and up-to date. To prevent psychosocial risks at work it is necessary to be informed about them, identify them and consequently be able to create or adapt working conditions to new, modern and healthy standards as regards managers and organizations, which relates to their ability to decide. Regarding employees and students, the challenge lies in enabling them to be adaptable, manage demands and rewards, deal with and attempt to overcome problems and difficulties and build healthy relationships efficiently. That is the part for education to provide programmes, courses or seminars about psychological strain and factors related as they have a possible influence on decision-making processes. For the workplace health promotion it is significant to minimize health risks caused by psychosocial work strain of the employees by supporting the skills which enable them to be flexible in different roles, positions and fields, to cope with stress, collaborate or manage other people with empathy, decide quickly and efficiently and apply system thinking. Along with this analysis of risks and various aspects of psychosocial work strain, our contribution points on potential further research activities concerning this matter and prospective ways of its promotion as an important and significant issue of nowadays.
